Gyeongbok Palace National Folklore Museum Antique Shop Street Cheonggyecheon Namdaemun Market

Incheon airport - Seoul - Departure (L) 140Km
Touching down at the ultramodern Incheon International Airport places us at the heart of Korea which is known as the Land of Morning Calm. After clearing immigration and customs, we will be met by gracious tour guide and be transferred to Seoul for city tour. Visit Gyeongbok palace and see its magnificent gates, graceful architecture and lovely gardens, all directly inherited from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The Gyeongbok Palace is a particularly charming tourist spot in Seoul that represents a colorful and turbulent side of the capital's 500-year history. A visit to the excellent facilities of the National Folklore Museum which showcases the lifestyle of the Korean people from the prehistoric age to the Joseon Dynasty, will help familiarize the visitors with the cultural wealth of this friendly and picturesque nation. We drop by Insa-dong, which is a place known to be the center of traditional Korean art and antiques in Seoul. Clustered along the main street and alleys are numerous shops dealing in antiques, oriental art supplies, and modern Korean art of all types and styles. A number of galleries also vie for attention with their exhibitions of works by modern artists. A couple of blocks away from the antique alley is Cheonggyecheon. Alongside the entire length of the 5.8Km-long Cheonggyecheon stream is a lively commercial district filled with huge markets, arcades and commercial facilities. Cheonggyecheon, with its 22 lovely bridges, also provides a great venue for a walking tour, a variety of cultural events and performances staged by amateurs and street artists and shopping as well. Finally, visit Namdaemun Market. Opened in 1414 as a government market, it is a unique cornucopia of clothing, jewelry, appliances, dishes, folk arts and foods. Clothing malls take up the biggest share of the market. Besides clothing, there are large specialized areas for items such as fashion accessories, kitchenware, handbags, glasses, shoes, embroideries and folk art crafts as well. Traditional oriental foods and medicine, such as ginseng are also popular items here. It is widely acknowledged as one of the country's best tourist attractions. Return transportation to the airport, and soon thereafter we will be on the plane taking us back home.
